This video basically explains on how technology is being used for the better, like being able to send in a vote via text, video, or picture, but also for the worst, like Twitter in China. When he was talking about how you could not be in the poll and still vote, that is very cool, but I guess I don't think it is efficient enough. Personally, I don't feel the need to vote because my one vote will not matter and because I know that the politicians are telling lies sometimes, so I do not know what to believe.
He also said that the internet becomes the motive carriage for all other media. I thought that was really interesting because it is true. Apple released a few months ago something called iTV. I made a previous blog on it and it explains what it is. It basically is TV that you do not have to pay for all the channels, but for the TV shows that you would want to watch. I think that is a genius idea.
The one thing that he covers that I think is the best part is when he talks about the earthquake that happened in China. Shirky was talking about a huge earthquake that happened in China, and guess who announced to everyone first that it was happening? People that use facebook, twitter, mysapce, etc. I find it interesting that everyday normal people are able to let people know what is happening other than news people AND the governement. That is just amazing. How could the government not know that a earthquake was coming in advanced? It's amazing.
